ONGC Selection Process for Engineers

ONGC hires candidate based on GATE score which is conducted by different IIT every year. ONGC shortlist the candidate based on scores in GATE exam and below are the process and interview is conducted to access the candidate :

Stage 1: GATE Score (60% weightage)
For this divide your GATE score by 1000 and multiply by 60.
E.g., if your GATE score is 990 so
990/1000 = 0.99 * 60 = 59.4
So, your score out of 60 in GATE Score parameter is 59.4

Stage 2: Qualification (25% weightage)

Regardless of the percent marks you obtained in your degree exam, the degree you have completed or are now in final year of study is considered for evaluation.
B.Tech is worth 20 points, B.Tech + M.Tech is worth 22 points, and B.Tech + Phd is worth 25 points. To be considered for the ONGC selection process, you must have a minimum of 60% in the required qualification, i.e. B.Tech.

Stage 3: Interview (15% Weightage)

ONGC AEE interviews are usually held in May or June and are worth 15 points. Your /15 for the interview will be added to your final score. However, there is a cutoff for the interviews, which is the minimum score required to be considered for final selection or employment.

BPCL Recruitment

Application Submission Procedure:

Candidates must enter the discipline/stream of engineering they wish to follow, their GATE Registration Number, a passport-size photograph with specifications (JPEG, maximum size 50 Kb), as well as their personal and educational information, in order to register for BPCL. They can then take note of the application number created and print the BPCL application form sent to their e-mail address for future reference.

Selection Procedure:

The GATE rank is merely a criterion for BPCL. When you arrive for your planned interview, you are just one of the hundreds of people who have come to compete for a spot in the final 10 applicants who will receive an offer that day.

BPCL typically schedules a batch of 100 candidates per day. Before receiving the temporary appointment letter, you must pass three rounds.

1.Case based GD:

You’ll be handed a piece of paper with a case on it, which will essentially be a test of your fairness in dealing with a situation that will put your moral judgement and ability to distinguish between right and evil to the test. The results will be out soon, and half of the soldiers in the GD will return home for lunch in the afternoon. Progress to the following round if you have a 50% chance. Even the individual with AIR 1 has a good possibility of being booted out at stage 1. You will be given the opportunity to express yourself. Use it to your advantage. When others are talking, don’t interrupt them. Do not make disparaging remarks on the arguments of others. Make what you want to say loud, clear, and certain.

2.Technical Interview:

You can be asked anything about your engineering studies here. I was asked to use the remote control to lower the temperature of the air conditioner. And there was a 20-minute discussion about the air conditioning. To add insult to injury, one of the interviewers started with power usage, and I ended up at a power generation station. You never know what they’ll inquire about. Again, 50% of applicants are turned down. The first day has come to a close. You’ll be contacted the following day to complete the rest of the procedure.

3.HR Interview:

This round is primarily about deciding who to keep rather than who to fire. As a result, give it your all to impress the interviewer. Be sincere. Do not deceive yourself. Prepare to answer a few questions about current events in the news. Don’t brag about your accomplishments. Finally, towards the end of day two, 10 or 12 candidates will be given a provisional appointment and told to come in the following day for a medical exam.

Perks and Benefits:

During 2017, the BPCL offered a CTC of roughly 18 LPA in campus placements. However, you should be aware that the CTC will include all perks and other relevant advantages, some of which will only be available if you claim them with the proper documentation. Given the present DA and income tax slab, a monthly compensation of around Rs. 70,000 can be projected.

The following are some of the benefits enjoyed by BPCL employees:

  • CGHS is a fantastic medical facility. The system enrolls the best hospitals in any location, and you and your dependents receive free medical care. Empaneled hospitals include Lilavati in Mumbai, Tata, Medanta in Gurgaon, Fortis, and others.
  • Spectacles: Yes, this was another medical perk, with employees receiving roughly $6–7k for spectacles.
  • Laptops: 35k one-time payment plus 20k for maintenance, paid every four years.
  • Travel/daily allowance: in 2008, it was Rs 800 per day. It has to be a lot more now. Furthermore, you are reimbursed for hotel expenses while on tour.
  • Allowance for transportation inside a city for office employment, such as daily commuting. It was likewise on the higher end of the scale.
  • HRA and a lease agreement
  • Large apartments in upscale colonies in major cities.

Probation:

The candidate’s position would ordinarily be on probation for a year (Extendable in case of non-satisfactory performance). If a candidate successfully completes the probationary period, he or she will be promoted to ‘Executive’ in the relevant business unit/entity. Candidates will be placed in any of BPCL’s current businesses, locations, or offices across the country.

About BPCL:

BPCL was founded in January of 1976. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, or BPCL, is a Maharatna Oil and Gas Company operated by the Indian government. The headquarters of BPCL are in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It owns and operates the country’s two major refineries, in Kochi and Mumbai.
